Holistic Learning

Holistic learning is at the foundation of our entire program at Hermosa Valley School. We believe that education should include not only high-quality academics, but also address all areas of development, including social, emotional, physical, and creative growth. As such, daily specialty classes, weekly assemblies, close student-staff-parent relationships, character-building, conflict resolution, ample physical activity, reinforcement of positive life habits, and creative outlets are all central focuses. Our daily specialty classes include SDP (Student Driven Projects), Life Skills, Community, Art, Art Exploration, Music, themed sensorial activities, and language tutoring. We also have a daily start and close Homeroom led by each group’s Teacher Guía (Guide Teacher), plus Mindful Minutes at the end of the lunch recess for smooth transitions and to further incorporate social and emotional needs.
